Concrete Repair and Pipe Inlet Sealing — Thames Water
Introduction
A Thames Water sewage treatment facility in Basingstoke experienced active leakage around pipe inlets within a concrete chamber. The defects posed a risk to operational reliability and required an immediate, engineered repair solution to prevent further water ingress and structural compromise.
Our Solution
UCL Ltd carried out a targeted concrete repair programme, beginning with breaking out the defective concrete around the leaking inlets. To restore structural stability and prevent future movement, crack stitching was carried out using Helifix bars bonded in place with a high-strength anchor resin. The concrete was then reinstated using Flexcrete Fastfill, a rapid-setting, high-performance repair mortar suitable for aggressive environments. To complete the system, the chamber area was squared off and fully sealed with Flexcrete 851, a polymer-modified cementitious waterproof coating, ensuring long-term protection and leak prevention.
Key Benefits
- Arrested active leakage at critical points
- Reinforced structural integrity through Helifix crack stitching
- Durable repair mortar designed for wastewater environments
- Watertight seal with long-lasting protection using Flexcrete 851
- Rapid turnaround minimising plant disruption
Conclusion
This chamber repair restored both functionality and protection at a live Thames Water facility, combining structural reinforcement with high-performance sealing. UCL Ltd continues to support water sector operators with proven repair and coating systems for critical infrastructure.
