TES to Large Composting Facility
Introduction
A large composting facility required full surface protection to prevent ongoing corrosion and eliminate condensation from internal building surfaces. UCL Ltd was engaged to apply a complete Thermal and Environmental Shield (TES) coating system, combining closed-cell spray foam insulation with a flexible polyurea topcoat across the entire structure.
Our Solution
Following thorough surface preparation and cleaning of the facility, UCL Ltd applied 57 tonnes of closed-cell spray foam insulation across the structure. This was immediately followed by the application of 68 tonnes of UCL's flexible polyurea coating system, sprayed directly onto the foam substrate. The two-component system was installed as a single, continuous monolithic assembly — eliminating joints and weak points. The polyurea layer provides a robust, chemically resistant barrier, whilst the closed-cell foam delivers thermal performance and condensation control. The system was installed to UCL's TES specification, meeting the corrosion protection and insulation requirements of the facility.
Key Benefits
- 57 tonnes of closed-cell spray foam applied for thermal insulation and structural support
- 68 tonnes of flexible polyurea coating applied as a seamless, monolithic finish
- Eliminates condensation from internal building surfaces
- Prevents further corrosion to the building fabric
- Installed as a single continuous system with no joints or seams
- 25-year full warranty issued by UCL Ltd on completion
Conclusion
The TES system delivered long-term corrosion protection and condensation control across the entire composting facility. UCL Ltd's ability to warrant the system for 25 years reflects confidence in both the specification and the quality of application.
